Hello and welcome to my website
Sarah Houghton-Birrell and Associates Statement re: Covid 19
Sarah Houghton-Birrell and Associates are currently staying safe and helping to keep others safe in this time of global pandemic and wish to inform you that any type of group training has been postponed until further notice by ourselves or by partner organisations who commissioned the training until a time when Covid-safe training environments can be guaranteed for all participants. Such environments will be based on public health recommendations and when we as an organisation feel confidence in the risk to health being fully mitigated for all. We take our civic responsibilities very seriously therefore unfortunately this means that we cannot currently give a definite date when any training will recommence because of the unpredictable nature of the pandemic however we anticipate that this is unlikely to be before the end of 2020. Please return to our website in 2021 when we hope to have updates on training. We are sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and patience at this complex time. Stay safe, take care and we hope to see you in the future.
My training, consultation and advice services can support you to understand, translate and relate to the range of difficulties, as well as strengths, experienced by autistic individuals of any age or ability and help you to problem solve challenges with learning, behaviour and inclusion encountered in your setting as well as providing practical skills based upon evidence based good autism practice. This combination of teamwork can be transformative.
I feel validated having completed the training , having an autism specific qualification enables me to confidently carry out my work , knowing my interactions are fact based. The knowledge and experience I have built up over the years has new worth, I have an improved confidence to support both young people and parents going forward. Thank you so much for yesterday it was extremely helpful. The strategies and advice were great and we will definitely be putting some of these into practice. (Small group consultation)
I learned more on this course than in the whole of my SEN Masters! Every day I use the ideas and techniques, they are invaluable and make a real difference. Would recommend for everyone working with those with autism, you won’t get a better grounding and practical skills anywhere. (Level 4 Understanding and Applying Good Practice with People with Autism)
I have thoroughly enjoyed the course and feel that I have developed and learned so much more than just a greater insight into autism and I think that this will continue to stay with me for a very long time. The ability to understand his needs alone will help us all. From an autism Mummy I think that all autism parents should have this level of understanding.
